Oracle plsql String Functions

CONCAT -> concatenation of 2 strings. Example: CONCAT(‘JAR’,’SQL’) Result: ‘JARSQL’
INSTR -> This returns the position of a String within a String.
INITCAP -> String to init cap Example: INITCAP(‘jar’) Result : ‘Jar’
LENGTH -> returns the length of char. Example: length(‘JAR’) Result: 3
LOWER -> returns a string with all lower case characters. Example: LOWER(‘JAR’) Result: ‘jar’
UPPER -> returns a string with all lower case characters. Example: UPPER(‘jar’) Result: ‘JAR’
LPAD -> Add characters to the left of a string. Example: lpad(‘jar’,7,’-‘) Result: ‘—-jar’.
LTRIM -> Remove specified character form the left of string. Example: ltrim(‘jjjjjjar’,’j’) = ‘ar’ If the last parameter is not specified then space will be removed from left side.
RTRIM -> Remove specified character form the Right of string. Example: Rtrim(‘jjjjjjar’,’r’) = ‘jjjjjja’ If the last parameter is not specified then space will be removed from Right side.
TRIM -> remove space from both side of the string
REPLACE -> Replace search string with a given string Example : replace(‘jarjar’,’j’,’z’) Result : ‘ZarZar’
REVERSE -> Reverses the characters of a String. Example: REVERSE(‘JAR’) Result: ‘RAJ’
SUBSTR -> Returns a substring
SOUNDEX -> Returns a character string containing the phonetic representation
